-21. Italy, Switzerland, Czech and Russia grab WRE gold

CAMERAS IN THE WOODS DURING MTBO 2011. The World Championships in Vicenza will be a great experience not only for the athletes but even for the public. In the finishing arenas there will be a big screen showing live footage from the woods. Some fixed cameras will be located at public controls by Gruppo Radio Piovese Onlus, a voluntary association that provides radio assistance support for emergencies and sporting events. TUSCANY WRE: ITALY, SWITZERLAND, RUSSIA AND CZECH REPUBLIC. Good news for the Italian team at the World Ranking Event in Castelfiorentino and Montespertoli (Tuscany). Laura Scaravonati (picture) won the gold medal in the long distance by defeating 4-times world champion Christine Schaffner, who won the middle distance and the sprint races. Among the men, Italian Giaime Origgi won the sprint distance on Friday. Middle distance was a Czech affair with Marek Pospisek, Jan Svoboda and Radek Lagika on the podium. Ruslan Gritsan won the long distance for Russia.
