-18. The relay from the course setter's mouth

RELAY, STRAIGHT FROM THE COURSE SETTER'S MOUTH. Talking about the world championship relay taking place in Alonte, we met the course setter Fabio Hueller, very experienced biker who has been Italian orienteering champion many times.

- The map has a well-developed route network, Hueller says, with both asphalt and dirt road. Route choice possibilities are increased by paths and tractor roads in the wineyards. Out of town road traffic is very low. The area is rich in vineyards, with low height difference but many up- and downhills. If the weather is fine, the "rideability" will be good and the reading skill will be crucial. On the contrary if it rains, average speed will decrease, downhills will become slippery and mud could be a problem for the bikers. Therefore winning times would be higher».

JOURNALIST GIANCARLO PADOVAN SPECIAL GUEST IN ALONTE. The Alonte stage has got a very special guest. Upon the invitation of the Sport councilor Stefania Brun, Giancarlo Padovan (IN THE PICTURE) will be joining MTBO 2011. Mr. Padovan is the chief of the sport editorial staff at 7 gold television channel, big name of the Italian journalism and former editor-in-chief at Tuttosport national newspaper. His attendance is a sign of the huge commitment by the Alonte community (around 1.500 inhabitants) associations and local government.
A very important support is coming also by local firms, especially Alfa Laval, Swedish company with a local branch in Alonte that cares about sport and orienteering in a particular way.
