Orienteering and Nordic Walking: an alliance for MTBO2011

An alliance for Vicenza district has been sealed by Mauro Gazzerro and Mario Campoli, respectively President of Orienteering-Veneto and President of Nordic Walking Vicenza  in the name of two sports which are strictly linked to the territory and depend on its characteristics and structure.

The aim is the promotion of Vicenza district and its ambition to represent a true open training ground. This opportunity will be the World Mountain Bike Orienteering Championship which will take place next August 2011 in Vicenza district.

So, while the World Championship will see the bikers concentrating on the Berici Hills between 20th and 27th August, in the Villas of South, on the Bregonze Hills in the north, up until Marostica and Bassano del Grappa, the Association Nordic Walking Vicenza will guide the tourists to follow the athletes and to know the beauties of Vicenza district.

The program is ready, subdivided by topics:

21st August "Culture" night in Vicenza town

22nd August "Art" day between the Palladian Villas of Salcedo and Lugo

23rd August "History" day between Marostica and Bassano

25th August "Environment" day with a walk on the Riviera Berica of Berici Hills, especially in Castegnero

26th August "Health and Taste" day between the vineyard of Alonte hills

"World Mountain Bike Orienteering Championship- explain Gabriele Viale, director manager and Daniele Rago, President of Organizing Commettee- must become a chance for Vicenza district to show itself. We will have a nation wide press relevance,  so these full seven days sport directly linked to the territory must represent  a long commercial advertisement."

Therefore the synergy  between the organizers and the Vicenza associations to  work as a team in order to suggest the best of Vicenza, from  Environment to Culture, from History to Kitchen.

"The sports we represent -states Mario Campoli- have many points in common, so we decided to help the orienteering friends to organize the World Championship;  since both are known and practised in Northern Europe, we expect on one hand that many Nordic Walking fans will visit us next August, on the other hand that many more will be interested in our territory in the following years."
