Officialised the program of the World Mountain Bike Orienteering 2011
Trials set also at Easter time to help teams from distant countries

Official visit, today in Brendola, of the President of the International Mountain Bike Orienteering Committee Edmond Szechenyi, arrived to test the courses of Vicenza territory where the World Orienteering MTB Championship will take place in August, 2011. Present with him the Swiss world champion title-holder Christine Schaffner, the italian champions Laura Scaravonati and Giaime Origgi, and athletes representing the national teams of Russia, Poland, Switzerland, Denmark, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, France, Australia and Italy, training for the pre-world Championship on the Berici Hills.

Three are the days planned for the trainings: on Tuesday the athletes were in Nanto, on Wednesday they were in Brendola and on Thursday in Arcugnano. This morning on the Golf Club in Brendola the athletes met the rapresentants of administrations and sport organizations partner of FISO (Italian Federation of Orienteering Sports) which through the organizer Gabriele Viale and the president of FISO (Veneto section) Mauro Gazzerri arranged the event. The outline of the World Championship from 20th  to 28th August 2011 was presented to the press.

The arrival and the trainings of teams and delegations from all over the world are set on August 20th and 21st. On Monday 21st there will be the Long Distance qualifications on the Bregonze Hills (Thiene, Carrè, Chiuppano, Zugliano) and the ceremony opening in Vicenza, in Dei Signori Square and in the Olympic Theatre. On Tuesday the long Distance final will take place between the towns of Marostica and Bassano, on Thursday the Medium Distance final between the towns of Villaga, Zovencedo and Barbarano, on Friday the Relay final in Alonte, Lonigo, Sarego and Orgiano. The Sprint final and closing ceremony in Sossano are set on Saturday. The delegations will leave on 28th.

"In order to help delegations from distant countries- stated Gabriele Viale- we set other trainings in Easter Time, so that also other countries can get used to Vicenza territory and get prepared for the World Competition".

This is the first time the World MTBO Championship take place in Italy and it will get some thousands people between athletes and attendants, therefore the staff is already working hard. "We do have great expectations- commented Edmond Szechenyi-, this sport could possibly be on the list of Olympic Games, so we are under International Olympic Commettee monitor. The more we demonstrate we are well organized, the sooner we will be on the list".

The organizers took this responsibility together with their partners, first of all Coni Veneto, whose president Gianfranco Bardelle remembered that Veneto is the first region in sport movement. "We, people of Veneto -Bardelle affirmed- are good at arrange events and, above all, not to fail". Local administration managers approved, and Vice-president of Vicenza province Dino Secco underlined the great touristic effect of sport events. "Those who visit Vicenza territories -commented-, fall in love for landscapes, kitchen, rich historical and architectonic heritage and become our messenger in foreign countries. The World Orienteering Championship can easily create this kind of virtuous circle, so we expect a lot from this important sport event, and we are sure it will get a great touristic and economic return".
